HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR SKIN TYPE
When it comes to make-up there is an area that is often overlooked - your skin. Your skin is your base, which means knowing how to look after it is just as important as knowing how to blend your eyeshadow.
Step number one in knowing how to care for your skin, is to identify your skin type. Each skin type requires their own specific line of products. Now I know there is an overwhelming amount of choice on the market when it come to skincare. However, the most important thing to remember is the quality of the ingredients. Everything you apply onto the skin will penetrate and enter the blood stream. With this in mind, I personally love Neal’s Yard Remedies. This is because they use natural and organic ingredients which are free from harmful chemicals.
Now let’s go back to identifying your skin type. Each skin type has different characteristics to look out for, being able to recognise these characteristics will give you the upper hand when selecting your skincare and choosing the right products for your specific needs.
NORMAL
Barely visible pores.
Rarely blemished.
Occasionally feels dry.
COMBINATION
A combination skin type has the same characteristics as a normal skin type, however you may notice that you have a shiny t-zone.
DRY
Feels tight.
Matte appearance.
Drinks moisture.
Does your skin always feel like this? If yes, you are a dry skin type. Only occasionally? Then you are dehydrated.
OILY
Visible/enlarged pores.
Looks shiny.
Feels oily.
SENSITVE
Reacts easily.
Prone to redness.
FIRST SIGNS OF AGEING
Fine lines and wrinkles.
Reduced elasticity.
Lack of tone.
MATURE SKIN
Very much like the first signs of ageing, however you will see loss of firmness, deep lines and wrinkles.
So hopefully now you have a clear idea of your skin type. It’s now time to run through your everyday skincare routine. Yes, I did say EVERYDAY!
